Game On

One day, Cristy (my friend/co-worker) said, "Want to go eat lunch with me at the Relay for Life meeting?" Not knowing what it, was I could barely get out "Uhm" and she said "Great, lets go!" On our way over there I'm still trying to figure it out and I'm thinking that it's probably some luncheon that they hold every year and you just come and listen or something. Nope, not the case. We got inside (Ruston's new Chamber of Commerce building-which by the way is beautiful) and somehow I just knew that this would not be a one time deal. I was tricked into it at first (not really but I have to give Cristy a hard time) and I'm loving it now. We all know someone that either has, had or will have cancer, and this experience has helped me realize how important it is to get everyone involved. It also helps me to realize that some of the most "normal" people, that you may see everyday, or that may have been a customer, could possibly be walking around as a survivor, and you would have no idea they even had cancer. It's amazing. We lost our grandmother (Mamaw House) to cancer a few years ago. I've never participated in a Relay, but I know that this one will be extremely special and I can't wait for the event. In case you've never heard of it, or not familiar with it, it's an all night event with the meaning that cancer never sleeps. When we start the sun is up, it will go down symbolizing the dark period of the diagnosis and fight, and then the sun will rise again providing hope and promise of recovery. There's someone from each team walking at all times. There will be food, games, music and people selling things. From what I hear it is a very honorable and memorable event. This year it will be on Friday, March 27, 2009 at the National Guard Armory (inside) from 6:00pm to 6:00am (or earlier). If anyone is interested in more information about the relay for our community, you can visit www.relayforlife.org/lincolnla, or you can e-mail us lincolnrelay@gmail.com.

We had a VERY SUCCESSFUL Kickoff party last night with about 60 in attendance. The theme this year is "Game On". Here is a picture of the wonderful people that I am working with for Relay.

Well I made it!

Not without destroying my house first though. Everytime I have some type of event come up that I am helping with or making things....this is what my tables look. When we got our new table, Chris said, "well it won't hold as much of your junk!" Well I beg to differ....
(OOOh, do you see that yummy Cadbury egg in all that mess?)
But don't worry, one of them now looks much better. I can't just get one thing at a time, that would be too easy. I have to get a little bit of everything out and not put anything up until I am completely finished. I'm sorry Chris, you married a "mess freak" instead of a "neat freak" I guess. It could be worse, I'm not sure how, but I'm sure it could. This is exactly why it's so hard for me to begin on my scrapbooks. I still haven't finished (or started for that matter) my wedding scrapbook, almost 4 years now. I can do without that, but I have got to get started on Noah's!
Now for the reason for the post. Jay Jay's shower. It turned out great! Everyone pulled their weight and was there in time to get it all pretty. We had a lot of fun (or I did anyway). But Noah did NOT have a good time. He was at home with daddy before the shower, where he was suppose to have a nap before he came...didn't happen. And I think he was a little overwhelmed with all the sweet ladies there...there were lots of them. But I think that he definately had his eye on Miss Kyla. Isn't she cute?
She got a lot of great things. I just love to play with baby girl things. They have the cutest clothes. I hope to have a little girl one day, but like I told someone at the shower, I'm not thinking about another kid ANYtime soon. I have so much on my mind now with Noah and all my other "duties", it's just not do-able, nor aford-able! Noah and I will just have to spoil Alli until we can get her outside playing in the dirt. Her mommy was in no way a "girly girl", and ALWAYS in trouble. I can't wait! We had a great turnout.
Kyla modeled the tutu that I made Alli
So after the shower, I was definately worn out. And the worst part about doing these events, is unpacking. I hate to unpack anything. We just hung out around the house and got rested for the rest of the weekend. I did start working on something with Noah. He talks all the time, but he's just started changing it up a bit. I started saying "da da da" and he can repeat it. Now it has to be on his own time, he will not do if you WANT him to. I tried that for the rest of the weekend. But he did say "da da" a few good times. I know that's not what he means, but it makes Chris and I feel all good and tingly inside. I have a good post that I will try to get up tonight.
Oh oh, and for those of you who have heard me talk about this darn game that Chris has been playing for a month or so now, you should be just as relieved as I was when Chris said the wonderful words.. "Baby, I finished the game!" Halalujah (sp?) I was asleep when he told me, but I was jumping for joy on the inside, just too tired to move!
Have a good night!

Look what I found in his bed.....

RROOAARR!! my sweet baby bear.

I love this little outfit. We've had it for a while, but the pants were too big. So we finally got to sport it last week. Hopefully we can wear it a few more times before it gets too warm.

We enjoyed our LONG weekend. We got up Saturday morning and ran to Monroe to see Dr. Stanley. Noah's been really congested and we didn't want to get sick sick again. So he gave us some meds and went ahead and talked to us about out 6 month mark (which by the way is Wednesday). We are now taking vitamins and eating 3 meals a day...oh goodness! It should be interesting. Then Gigi came up and played with Noah while we went to eat dinner and ran some erands. Thanks Gigi! And my sweet husband got up with Noah Sunday and Monday morning so that I could sleep later. Thanks Chris! On Sunday we went to Jay Jays to help her with Allis' room and to take a few pics of her belly. She's such a cute little pregnant woman. We can't wait to meet that child! We then headed to mamaw and papaws to play another round of poker. I didn't win, but neither did Chris. Papaw won. So I've never been around to see Bob go out, but I finally witnessed it! He was the first one out. And then he looked at papaws cards one round and without even thinking, he called them out. Well Chris was the only one in with him and it was some big money (chips) on the table. So they decided to go ahead and play it out just to see what would've happened.....and Bob ruined it for papaw. He would've whooped Chris with a full house or one of those words. I felt really bad for him. Dang Bob! On another hand, Miranda was staying the night with mamaw and she was a GREAT babysitter. She played with him all night and then went back to the bedroom to watch tv with him when he was headed to bed. It was sweet.

And for today...have you ever cleaned all day but felt like you had not gotten anything done? That was me! When I did get up about 8:00, Chris fed Noah and then we got him dressed and ready to go to Dorothys. However, we weren't quick enough...we got a phone call from Dorothy checking on him and making sure that everything was ok. We love her! I had to explain that we were just having a sleep in morning. It was quite nice.

Now here we are getting ready for Tuesday. I like these short weeks. Have a great one.
