Lincoln Parish Relay For Life 2009

One day. One night. One community. Our Relay For Life® is about celebration, remembrance, and hope. By participating, we honor cancer survivors, pay tribute to the lives we've lost to the disease, and raise money to help fight it all right here in your community. You won't want to miss one moment of this life- and community-affirming event!
Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people will come out National Guard Armory to take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event.

Relay For Life is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people to:

  • Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight.
  • Remember loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have walked alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing.
  • Fight Back. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease.
Relay For Life® is a special place for Survivors. Survivors are the main reason we continue to Relay. You show we are making great strides in our fight against cancer, so we invite you to come join us. We want to celebrate you during the opening ceremony of Relay, and invite you to walk in a special Survivors lap. If you are not already registered as a Survivor, don't forget to do this at the Relay. We will also honor you during the lighting of luminarias that shine to represent the hope for a future where cancer no longer threatens those we love.
If you or anyone you know are interested in purchasing a luminaria for a $10 donation, in honor of, or in memory of someone special, please visit http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLFY09MS?sid=1014&type=fr_informational&pg=informational&fr_id=15472.

You can also purchase a Torch of Hope that will be lit at the Relay with a $50 donation. The Torch will include a plate with the name of the individual the torch was purchased for and who the Torch was given by. After the Relay, the Torches are to be taken by the individual who purchased it. If you are interested in this, please leave me a comment or you may e-mail me at jan_2136@yahoo.com. They must be turned in by March 24th.
There will be so many events going on for the kids and adults. There will be snow cones, nachos, kareoke, tons of games, jumpers, lots of food including, WOW, and Bluebell, and much more. We hope to see you there!
REMEMBER....One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. We all know someone who is battling it now, or has in the past. The funds raised at Relay save lives by funding cutting-edge cancer research, early detection and prevention education, advocacy efforts, and life-affirming patient services. It is because of your involvement that we are able to save lives, help those battling cancer, and empower all to fight back against the disease.
My Reasons To Relay.....
